Latest trips and additions to my website...
July 2026 - La Palma - A second visit to La Palma. During the day, exploring the island, including Cumbre Vieja National Park, Puerto de Tazacorte, Pico de La Nieve, the north of the island including Puertito de Santo Domingo, the southern tip including Fuencaliente, Barranco de las Angustias, and the towns of Charco Azul and San Andrés. Plus some sunset views around the high mountain tops and astronomical observatories. While at night, the island is one of the best locations in the world for astrophotography, using techniques including startracking and long exposure star trails.
June 2026 - Hide Night - A return to Wildlife Photography Hides, near Bourne, for a nocturnal session of Tawny Owls and Fox, followed by a short early morning session viewing a Kestrel nest.
May 2026 - Azores - A week based on São Miguel. On land, exploring fumaroles, the botanical gardens of Terra Nostra, cliffs and beaches, volcanic crater lakes, waterfalls, and a tea plantation. Out of the water, 4 boat trips in search of cetaceans, and finding short-beaked common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphins and sperm whales.
March 2026 - Iceland - My 25th trip to Iceland, based in Húsavík, visiting some old favourites at Goðdfoss and Mývatn, and then some new locations around the north coast.
December 2025/January 2026 - Peak District - A week over New Year exploring the Peak District, including the Monsal Trail, Bamford Edge and Ladybower Reservoir, a sunrise visit to Magpie Mine, Hen Cloud, The Roaches, Hamshaw Rocks, Peter's Stone, Peveril Castle, local Red Grouse and Mountain Hares, Windgather Rocks and Eldon Hill Quarry.
December 2025 - Kenya - A long overdue return to Kenya, with 3 nights at Kicheche Mara North, followed by 4 nights at Kicheche Bush Camp. Plenty of big cat action, with lions, cheetah and leopards in both conservancies, and probably some of the best elephant experiences I have had in Kenya.
September 2025 - Iceland - A two week trip, visiting some new locations, along with some old favourites. Starting with Gluggafoss and Seljalandsfoss, before exploring Þórsmörk and along the F261 to Markarfljótsgljúfur Canyon. Continuing along the F232 to Bláfjallafoss, and then up the F206 to Laki. Then exploring the area around Kirkjubæjarklaustur, before heading to Skaftafell National Park and Jökulsárlón. The second week headed to the Eastern Fjords, exploring Kárahnjúkar Dam, Hafrahvammagljúfur, Fardagafoss, Stuðlagil Canyon, along Road 917, Klifbrekkufossar, Mjóifjörður and Seydisfjordur. Then back along the south coast, including stops at Eystrahorn & Hvalnes, Stokksnes & Vestrahorn, a second visit to Jökulsárlón and finishing at Vík beach.
July 2025 - Little Owls - A day shoot near Northampton, using a car as a hide, allowing different angles to be set up to catch the local male little owl.
May 2025 - La Palma - A week spent exploring La Palma, including the peaks of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, home to many astronomical observatories, Las Nieves Natural Park, Fuencaliente lighthouse and salt pans, Volcán de Teneguía, a hike around the most recent eruption at Volcán de Tajogaite, the fishing village of Poris de la Candelaria, the north coast around La Fajana, and Playa de Nogales. And then, at night, La Palma is an ideal location for astrophotography, where some amazing views of the Milky Way can be shot, using some complex techniques of star tracking and long exposures.
April 2025 - Scotland - A trip exploring the wildlife of the Isle Of Mull and on Lunga in the Treshnish Isles, in particular White-Tailed Eagles, Puffins, Razorbills, and Shags.
February 2025- Iceland - A week in Iceland, based in Hellnar, mainly exploring the southern side of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, and including one night of Northern Lights.
December 2024/January 2025 - Iceland - Exploring North Iceland, firstly around Siglufjörður, and then around Mývatn, with 4 nights of northern lights, including an amazing display on New Year's Eve!
November 2024 - Scotland - A week in Dunfries and Galloway, spending time at the amazing Scottish Wildlife Hides, run by Alan McFadyen, interspaced with exploring some of the local area. Target species of Badgers, Red Squirrel, Pine Martin, Tawny Owl, Sparrowhawk and Otter.
September 2024 - Iceland - A two week trip, starting with a brief visit to the latest eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula, followed by a week in the Westfjords, including the Garðar BA 64 shipwreck, the amazing Rauðasandur beach, Latrabjarg Cliffs, Dynjandi Waterfall, around Djupavik and the old Abandoned Herring Factory, then south to Hraunfossar & Barnafoss, and a night of northern lights across the Reykjanes Peninsula. The second week was based in the Highlands, including Rauðfoss, Landmannalaugar, Gjáin, Háifoss, the highland areas along Road F228 & F229 leading to the Veiðivötn area, and Illugaverskvísl River, including 2 nights of northern lights. The last night also featured northern lights at Garður.
July 2024 - Shetland - A return to Shetland for a further week long trip with photographic Shetland Nature, featuring Otters, Puffins, Gannets, Red-Throated Divers, Great Skua, and Arctic Terns.
June 2024 - Somerset Hedgehogs - After discovering that Hedgehogs had moved into the neighbour and were regularly visiting my garden, it was time to capture these lovely creatures on camera.
June 2024 - Hide Night & Day - Daytime Kestrels and nocturnal Tawny Owls, shot at Wildlife Photography Hides, near Bourne.
April 2024 - India - A return to India after 8 years, visiting Bandhavgarh National Park, full of amazing wildlife, but especially tigers.
March 2024 - Iceland - A week trip along the south coast, including a glacier hike and ice cave, 2 nights of mild Northern Lights, and a lot of moody weather.
December 2023/January 2024 - Northern Ireland - New Year trip exploring Northern Ireland, especially the coastline castles & beaches, including two visits to Giant's Causeway, and a couple of visits to the Dark Hedges.
November 2023 - Iceland - A week trip exploring the North and the South West, including 4 nights of Northern Lights.
November 2023 - Hide Night & Day - A return to the amazing Wildlife Photography Hides, near Bourne, for another 24 hour night and day session, with Herons & Otters at night & Kingfishers during the day using longer exposures and flash to create some rather different images.
September 2023 - Brazil - A return to the Pantanal, home to amazing wildlife, with jaguar, giant river otters, cayman and plenty of birdlife.
July 2023 - Iceland - A two week trip exploring the Iceland Highlands, a first visit to Vestmannaeyjar and two visits to the Litli Hrútur eruption, the first visit with moody overcast skies and the second visit with brighter conditions.
June 2023 - Shetland - A fantastic week long photographic trip with Shetland Nature, featuring Otters, Puffins, Gannets, Great Skua, Guillemot, Arctic Terns, Arctic Skua, and Red-Necked Phalarope.
May 2023 - UK- Afternoon at Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre.
March 2023 - Hide Night & Day - A second 24 hour night and day session at the amazing Wildlife Photography Hides, near Bourne, with Herons, Otters, Erget & Kingfishers.
March 2023 - Norway - A week based on Senja Island, featuring winter coastal scenery and amazing northern lights.
December 2022/January 2023 - Iceland - New Year trip to Iceland, winter photography along the South Coast.
November 2022 - Iceland - Short trip to Iceland, based on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, including some spectacular Northern Lights.
September 2022- Iceland - 15th trip to Iceland, a 2-week exploration from the Southern Highlands, to the North West, to the North East, then the Eastern fjords, and along the south coast, ending with a hike to the Fagradalsfjall volcano site.
July 2022 - Slovenia - 4 days in the Ribnica region photographing brown bears, followed by a few days around Lake Bled and the Triglav National Park.
June 2022 - Kenya - 8th visit to Kenya, with 3 nights at Kicheche Mara North, followed by 3 nights at Kicheche Bush Camp.
June 2022 - UK - Kingfisher day shoot at Brine Pit Wildlife Photography.
Spring 2022 - Somerset - Project photographing local Barn Owls.
April 2022 - Iceland - A week in late winter along the South Coast.
March 2022 - Iceland - Return to Iceland to photograph Arctic Foxes on Hornstrandir Peninsula, or Melrakki in Icelandic, with Wildlife Worldwide, led by Bret Charman.
December 2021/January 2022 - Iceland - New Year trip to Iceland, based on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
November 2021 - Buzzards - Shot at Wildlife Photography Hides in Wiltshire.
October 2021 - Kenya - A return to Kenya, initially 4 nights in Laikipia, consisting of 2 nights at Kicheche Laikipia and 2 nights fly-camp in Karisia, and then followed by 8 nights in the Masai Mara, based at Kicheche Bush Camp.
September 2021 - Iceland - 12th trip to Iceland, including 4 hikes to the Fagradalsfjall volcano (during both quiet and active phases), and a 2-week exploration along the south coast and up to the Eastern fjords.
August 2021- Norfolk - A second photography weekend staying at Carricks at Castle Farm, Swanton Morley, with time spent at RSPB Snettisham and locally around the farm.
July 2021 - Skomer Island - Two day visit to Skomer Island, with one dry day and one very wet day, plus sunset at nearby Freshwater West Beach.
July 2021 - Iceland - 11th trip to Iceland, visiting the Fagradalsfjall volcano, and exploring the Hekla Highlands, Nauthusagil Canyon and the Reykjanes Peninsula.
June 2021 - Swallows - Shot at Wildlife Photography Hides near Bourne.
May 2021 - Hide Week - A wonderful 24 hour day & night session at Wildlife Photography Hides, near Bourne, with Tawny Owls, Herons, Otters & Kingfishers, and, a day session at Somerset Wildlife Hides, featuring mainly Kestrels.
September 2020 - Wales - A week spent in Wales, including the 'Waterfall County' in the south of the Brecon Beacons, seven days in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park exploring the coast, including sunrises, sunsets and night shoots, a short stop at Elan Valley dams, and finally an afternoon at Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre (photos of the Red Kites to be found under the UK Wildlife tab).
July 2020 - Norfolk - A photography weekend staying at Carricks at Castle Farm, Swanton Morley, with time spent on the Norfolk coasts and locally around the farm.
Spring 2020 - Somerset - During lockdown, photography has been limited to the immediate locality in Somerset, namely the garden, a neighbouring orchard, local bluebells & poppies, amazing local badgers, and some first attempts at wildlife macro, all of which can been found in their respective galleries under the Somerset tab.
February 2020 - Iceland - 10th trip to Iceland, returning to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, and the south-west.
December 2019/January 2020 - Sweden - New Year trip to Stockholm, and something a little different photography wise, exploring the unique artwork of the Stockholm Metro.
November 2019 - Iceland - 9th trip to Iceland, exploring along the south coast and south east, including an ice cave visit.
September 2019 - Kenya - Latest trip to the Masai Mara, based at Kicheche Bush Camp, with Paul Goldstein and Chris Packham.
July 2019 - South East Alaska - 10 days exploring on board the Island Roamer, led by Paul Goldstein and the excellent Bluewater Adventures crew.
May 2019 - Faroe Islands - Hiking and sightseeing tour of the Faroe Islands, exploring the islands of Vágar, Streymoy, Eysturoy, Borðoy, Kunoy, Kalsoy, Viðoy and Nólsoy.
March 2019 - Iceland - Latest trip to Iceland, exploring North Iceland, using 2 bases of Mývatn and Siglufjörður, including a super-jeep excursion into the highlands and 3 nights of amazing northern lights.
December 2018/January 2019 - Norway - New Year trip to the Lofoten Islands.
October 2018 - Brazil - A two part trip, exploring the Pantanal and Iguazu Falls.
September 2018 - Germany - Photographic workshop in the Bavarian Forest National Park, featuring lynx, wolves and brown bears.
